Looking for a space and our light

The way we live spaces has changed, the need for lighting will also change, towards an increasingly personalized light.

We are experiencing a particular moment, in recent months we have radically changed our way of life. All in all, however, this moment accelerated some phenomena that were already underway, linked, above all to the world of the Interior, to our way of living and living.

The frequentation of public places and places with high traffic will, in fact, already be completely different, and so is the way we live the house.

We will not return to having a ‘normal’ life in a short time, to go to the office, restaurant, cinema or public places as we used to do in the past. In this period we have all discovered the way of living and working at home.

The ‘domestic nomadism’

Clearly the houses continue to have the same dimensions, but inside the rooms have slightly changed their functions. There is what we can call ‘domestic nomadism’, previously we used to cook in the kitchen, now we cook, we do homework for our children, we work with the computer.

We are all a bit looking for our corners inside the house and we also understood in this period that, although we all hope to be able to return to work in the office soon, we can also work at home, in a restaurant or in a park .

We must therefore take into account that this moment could truly be a great challenge for those involved in design. Surely in the near future people will travel less, invest less in clothes because there are fewer social occasions, but they still need to work and recreate their own spaces, both inside the home, where they want to have your own corner where you can relax and where to work, both in public areas.

Lighting will be a determining factor for these spaces, both from a technical and an image point of view. Before, the part of the light was the one that came at the bottom, everything else was thought of first. The concept of light is a fundamental concept: an environment, both public and residential, illuminated in a different way gives you a completely different atmosphere.

New challenges for those involved in design

In the world, the perception of light is completely different when it is mixed with natural light. In London natural light is an extremely yellow light, while in Miami natural light is extremely white.

So creating the environment, creating your own areas within the environment by playing with light is an absolutely fundamental. We must think that more and more, with the new distribution inside the offices, restaurants and all the reception spaces, there will be greater distance between the people who live in these spaces and therefore, even more so, everyone will want to have their own corner and, why not, maybe with a light that can meet your needs. There are those who love to work with a very strong light and those who love to work with a more diffused or soft light.

It is an extremely interesting moment, even in a difficult situation there may be new challenges, new goals to be achieved for those involved in product design, both public and private.
