Will we now have more awareness of the importance of Light?

The Covid-19 has done nothing but speed up some processes already underway. Will we live the social distance in the environments thinking more and better about lighting?

In recent years, from a technological point of view, light has made great strides forward. On the one hand there is the theme of energy saving, on the other the new technologies, increasingly smaller and more miniaturized, which still allow us to obtain increasingly interesting effects.

This pandemic period has accelerated an already ongoing phenomenon. The world of light was already changing considerably: from cold, very flat lights, which created little environment, we are increasingly moving towards atmospheric lights, which create this play of lights and reflections that give a very important characteristic to different environments.

Let’s not forget that quarantine has further increased the importance of light in the evening hours, for outdoor lighting. People who maybe only have a small terrace, but who want to experience the outdoors anyway, have discovered the outdoor world. The right lighting, even outside the home, is essential.

The decorative value of the bright object

In recent years we are seeing the return, in a domineering way, of giving importance to the luminous object also from a decorative point of view. It happened already in the 60-70-80, today the form has become a priority again.

Speaking, for example, of the lighting in the house, we are returning, after the lights on the walls or the spotlights above the dining table, to the large chandelier revised in a contemporary key. From this point of view, ICON can offer products such as Canaletto, Crystalglob or Diadema.

Already recently we had moved, precisely, in this direction, to create an important point, a focal point. Not only light on the walls, not only spotlights, but also floor lamps that can move, like Cranes, in the case of Icons, which can direct the light according to needs.

Here, therefore, as regards the domestic space, a great presence of the product image. The same also applies to public spaces: in this case the lighting elements become almost architectural elements, increasingly integrated with the walls.

In the catalog of icons we have products such as Caveau, Hula Hoop, Luà and others that are truly integrated into the walls and architecture. They become fundamental elements which, in addition to giving light, create luminous sculptures, objects that have great expressive power.
