How great creatives work

The Netflix documentary ‘Abstract: The Art of Design’, tells the behind the scenes of famous designer of all over the world.

Art and creativity, psychology and enterpreneurship: what’s behind the people who stand out in this field? The original Netflix documentary ‘Abstract: The Art of Design’ reveals the secrets of the great characters in the world of design.

It is a journey throught their crative process and the way in which their innovative projects have deeply influenced our daily lives.

Architecture was among the protagonists of the first season of this program (entirely available on the platform), represented by the Danish architect Bjarke Ingels (among his projects the LEGO House in Billund and the 8 House in Copenaghen), while the representative of the world of the interior designer was the Englishman Ilse Crawford.

Other ‘arts’ of design contribute to this path in innovation, such as illustration (Christoph Niemann), footwear design (Tinker Hatfield), stage design (Es Devlin), car design (Ralph Gilles), graphic design (Paula Scher), photography (Platon), and others will be covered in the second season, including bio-architecture.

Meeting some of the most crative thinkers and imaginative minds, Abstract talks about their working philosophy, but also their entrepreneurial one, collecting suggestions to treasure:

  • focus on the essential
  • respect the times between work and rest, because in the creative process, the latter is also important
  • to seek change, also, and above all, when everything is calm and things are going well
  • getting involved is easier when you don’t have control over everything
  • be positive about your ideas
  • try to improve, every day

‘Abstract: The Art of Design’ tells how design is an instrument of knowledge and communication of reality, making known professions not so well known to the general public and characters who have made their passion a profession.
