Raggio lampada a sospensione | Icone Luce

The complexity of Raggio goes beyond appearances

The new suspension is slender and light, hiding tailor-made electronics and a unique lighting experience.

Its shape is familiar and reassuring, reminiscent of the silhouette of a typical “Dutch” chandelier from the ’80s and ’90s. However, behind this initial impression, the Raggio pendant lamp challenges expectations. It conceals a surprising, modern, and complex soul.

Firstly, it stands out for its extraordinary lightness and the innovative use of materials. Made entirely of aluminum with frosted glass diffusers, each of its arms, only 2mm thick, becomes an electrical conductor, eliminating the need for visible wires and unsightly clamps.

This solution ensures a unique visual cleanliness and an impeccable 360° light distribution without creating shadow zones or discomfort to the eyes.

Designer Marco Pagnoncelli emphasizes the versatility and sustainability of Raggio: “It’s a lamp suitable for every type of environment. There’s great respect for the materials used and their longevity over time. The parts are all replaceable; it’s not a disposable product. If an LED fails, it can be replaced without affecting any other component.”

Thus, there’s also a commitment to a design that respects the environment without sacrificing aesthetics.

Choosing not to opt for eccentric shapes but simple ones makes Raggio a timeless piece of design with immediate appeal, capable of fitting into both modern and classic environments.

Paradoxically, the uniqueness of Raggio’s visual experience is best captured from the dark. Its extraordinary lightness, once turned on, allows only the illuminated ends to be perceived: a circle of light that floats in space with the structure almost invisible. This effect creates a magical atmosphere where the luminous points attract attention, and the physical structure dissolves into the darkness of the surrounding space.

Marco Pagnoncelli describes Raggio as “a ‘light’ interpretation of the decorative. The primary goal is indeed to decorate the space but with an essential and clean approach.”

The process of creating Raggio is exemplary of Icone Luce’s tailor-made approach: every element, from the electronic board to the arms, is designed to measure to ensure optimal performance and unparalleled aesthetics.

The lamp, which operates at 24 volts, is an example of how contemporary design can reinvent classical archetypes by integrating advanced technological solutions into familiar forms. It is an invitation to look beyond appearances, discovering the complexity and beauty hidden in the things around us.
