A lamp that we can play with and change its shape and light.
Defining Albatros as a lamp is absolutely limiting. I like to define Albatros as a mobile sculpture that illuminates. Mobile because we can play with these thin metal rods creating different conformations of this sculptural object, which therefore does not only perform a lighting function.
The finishes of the background panels, which can be positioned horizontally or vertically, are white, black, or can be customized with the same color or shades as the walls on which they are hung.
The reference to contemporary art, to Calder’s “Mobiles” and many other works of minimalist art, is very strong precisely because an object like Albatros is capable of personalizing an entire wall on its own, whether it be the wall of a lounge in an office, a house or the entrance of a hotel.
So here we have once again a strongly characterizing object, which represents a bit the spirit of all the Icone objects designed by Marco Pagnoncelli. Objects that are very simple, pure, minimal but which have a very strong expressive language.
